War and European Society Series

Series Editor: Geoffrey Best

McGill-Queen's University Press is pleased to announce the publication of updated editions of the highly respected Fontana War and European Society series.

The War and European Society series has helped popularize an alternative way of studying military history that does not glorify war and avoids the nationalistic and patriotic attitudes that characterized much military history before the early twentieth century. Written for the general historical reader, books in the series highlight the campaigns and commanders, the armies and battles, but consider these events in relation to the societies that supported them and were affected by them.

Additions to the new editions include a preface highlighting developments in the field since the first publication of the series and an updated bibliography.

NOTE: This series has a limit of five publications.
